The Bank Attends OCBC's Annual Dinner & Keynote Presentation from CEO of PIMCO
Orange County Business Council's 2013 'Breaking Free' Event is a Success
02.08.13
The Private Bank of California attended Orange County Business Council’s Annual Dinner and Installation of Board of Directors held recently at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine. The special event, presented by Brandman University, featured Keynote Speaker Dr. Mohamed El-Erian, Chief Executive Officer and co-Chief Investment Officer of PIMCO.
“It was fascinating to learn how PIMCO’s CEO and co-CIO uses a sense of ‘constructive paranoia’ in translating his viewpoints into investment strategy,” says David Cobb, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of the Bank’s Orange County office. “On one hand, he employs confident thought leadership in global finance; on another, skeptical observation actively tested for “blind spots.”
The 2013 Annual Dinner focused on ‘Breaking Free’, a theme set forth to foster discussion on freedom from economic constraints and over-regulation and helping businesses set themselves apart in a tough economy. In keeping with this theme, Dr. Mohamed El-Erian discussed strategic challenges and opportunities for navigating the new economy, while highlighting ways PIMCO has succeeded through these economic hardships.
“His analogy comparing the markets to LA traffic made me believe we could get to our destination despite stop and go traffic and occasional lane changes, “ continued Mr. Cobb.
