Fundraiser Held to Eliminate the Injustices of Poverty and Abuse

The Alliance for Children’s Rights recently held their largest fundraiser of the year at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Annual Dinner takes place to bring together the entertainment industry’s most influential and talented people.  Each year the goal is to raise funds to enable The Alliance to provide free legal services to thousands of abused and neglected children.

This year, The Alliance recognized two individuals for their involvement in the community and dedication to giving back.  Rick Rosen, board member and head of television at William Morris Endeavor, was honored with the 2013 National Champion for Children title for his commitment on improving the education and well-being of at risk children and youth.  The 2013 Francis M. Wheat Award was awarded to Melanie Lundquist, Philanthropist, Political Activist and Education Reformer.  The Francis M. Wheat Community Service Award is given to individuals who are committed to the advancement of underserved children and Melanie Lundquist was recognized for her substantial pledge to education and healthcare initiatives in Southern California.

Since their founding in 1992, The Alliance for Children’s Rights has provided free legal services and advocacy to over 100,000 impoverished and abused children and youth in Los Angeles County.  By protecting their rights, The Alliance provides stable homes, health care, and the education these children need to thrive and build a better future.
