Keating Offers Perspective on Balancing Budgets

Building relationships with lawmakers of both parties is critical to achieving a balanced budget, ABA President and CEO Frank Keating told Fox News host Mike Huckabee during the “Huckabee” program last weekend.
Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, invited three other former governors who balanced state budgets -- Keating (Oklahoma), Bob Wise (West Virginia) and Michael Leavitt (Utah) -- to offer their perspectives on how to handle the current federal budget crisis.
Keating explained that he held weekly bipartisan breakfast meetings with state legislators of both parties to review priorities and goals, which he said “required a dialogue and a debate and resolution.”
