Our Experience With 'Umami'
Proud to Support Our Client Adam Fleischman
06.05.12
The Private Bank is proud to support Adam Fleischman, CEO and Founder of Umami Burger. He opened his first Umami Burger in 2009 on La Brea Avenue and has since opened nine more, with another six restaurants slated to open throughout Orange County, Oakland and Greater Los Angeles areas.
Fleischman’s newest restaurant, UMAMIcatessen, gives a modern dining hall experience consisting of five different kitchens incorporatingseveral concepts to separate this special delicatessen from its sister restaurants. These concepts include: the Umami Burger, an expanded burger experience that includes burgers once limited-time-only at other locations that now have a full-time home at this location; PIGG explores pork creations from different cultures and regions throughout the U.S., Spain and Italy; The Cure is a Kosher-inspired deli that includes the Fleischman signature items of pastrami, artisanal jellies, and corned beef; Spring for Coffee offers craft espresso drinks, made-to-order coffees, and beverages with alcoholic crossovers; And A Donut offers fried to order donuts along with a selection of soft serve, sorbet made with local fruit, and cakes; The Back Bar includes draft beer, handcrafted cocktails to compliment the savory menus of the other kitchens, but more enticing is their selection of 30 bottles of wine for only $28.
“UMAMIcatessan is a unique restaurant concept and is a testament to Adam’s inventive vision,” said Natalie Krouth, VP Relationship Manager at the Bank. “I was thrilled to attend the opening in Downtown Los Angeles and encourage everyone to go visit and indulge in the Umami experience.”
After graduating from college, Fleischman took a trip to Burgundy where his love of writing fused with his love of wine and food. Upon his return home, he began to write about wine and was able to write for a few established Los Angeles wine retailers. As the wine industry took notice of him, he garnered a role of selecting quality wines for U.S. import. With an experienced palate, Fleischman became enthralled with the taste known as ‘umami’. Umami is a Japanese word describing the pleasant and savory taste imparted by glutamate. His obsession with ‘umami’ led him to develop a restaurant idea that combined the All-American classic hamburger with this unique flavor.
The Bank is honored to be a partner in Adam Fleischman’s growing empire and wishes him continued success.
UMAMIcatessen is located at 852 S. Broadway, Los Angeles 90015. For more information visit Umami.com.
